The International Alliance of Leading Institutes (IALEI) is a consortium of nine education institutes that seeks to enhance the quality of education in their own countries and to provide leadership for educational development internationally.

In 2008 they published theres first rapport, Transforming Teacher Education. Redefined Professionals for 21st Century Schools.
In an introduction on the report the authors put focus on four main themes that are important for TE
1. There is an urgent need to recognize teachers’ work as complex and demanding.
2. Innovative pathways in recruitment and continual innovation in teacher preparation programmes are required.
3. Teacher education is enhanced by comprehensive teacher induction that fosters lifelong learning.
4. New designs for teacher education will need to rest on strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
