Para 2010: Conference on state of the Art in Scientific and Parallel
ComputingThe
School of Engineering and Natural Sciences of the University of Iceland are
hosting Para 2010 in Reykjavik on June 6--9, 2010
This is a preliminary web page
In due course links to:
-- submit abstracts of proposed talks
-- register for the conference
-- book guesthouse / hotel rooms
(and probably more) will be added
The topics
of the conference will include (but are not restricted to) software, hardware,
algorithms, tools, environments, as well as applications of scientific and high performance computing.
This
will be the 10th Para conference and
it will uphold the traditions built up with these. The conferences have all
been held in the Nordic countries, but with sizeable participation from other
countries. The first three were held annually
1994--1996 in
Copenhagen, but since then every two years, in Umeaa, Bergen, Helsinki,
Copenhagen, Umeaa, and the ninth in Trondheim 2008. More details...

In addition a reception is planned in the evening of Saturday June 5. Some more details...
As in
previous Para conferences the workshop sessions will consist of key lectures as
well as topical minisymposia and contributed papers in approximately 6 or 7
parallel streams. The list of minisymposia has not been finished yet, but we expect minisymposia in the topic areas listed above (software,
hardware, algorithms, tools, environments) as well as on themes such as cluster
computing, grid computing and cloud computing, and application areas such as
meteorology, chemistry, physics, engineering, bioinformatics and biology.
Volunteers for organizing minisymposia are welcome. About 250 participants are
expected.
Abstracts
of invited and contributed talks will be handed out at the conference. After
the conference, original papers will be reviewed for
publication in the conference proceedings. As for earlier Para meetings these
will be be published in the Springer series Lecture Notes in Computer Science
(LNCS).

Para
2010 will take place at the School of Education of the University of Iceland, located
centrally in Reykjavik.

Wasniewski, Denmark, chair <jw-at-imm.dtu.dk>

There
are direct flights to Iceland from most countries in Western Europe as well as
USA and Canada. The major airlines are Icelandair,
Iceland Express, and SAS. Travel is sometimes less expensive if the stay
includes night between Saturday and Sunday (and this is the main reason why the
conference is scheduled to begin on a Sunday). Several rooms in the price range
50--150 euros per night have been reserved in guesthouses and hotels close to the
conference venue.
